We are Marijn, Sanne, and Heros. After more than 17 years of sailing side by side, we know each other inside out and make a great team at sea. We love life at sea and feel a strong connection with the ocean and all its creatures. We believe in treating it with care and hope to inspire others to help keep it healthy and thriving.
Captain
Marijn Lemmers
Marijn could sail before he even learned to ride a bike. As a child, he crossed oceans with his parents, sparking a lifelong passion for sailing and the sea. Since then, he has worked as a professional skipper on yacht deliveries, raced his own traditional Dutch sailing barge, and sailed his private yacht from the Netherlands to Malaysia. With more than 30 years of experience as a charter captain, Marijn does not just sail. Sailing is part of who he is. He loves sharing his knowledge and ensures that Ilios and her crew reach every destination safely, guided by his outstanding navigation skills.

Sanne Bast
Sanne fell in love with sailing as a teenager. Fascinated by the living world around her, she finds the sea to be its own universe of wonders. A certified divemaster and graduate in environmental sciences, she is always eager to share insights about the beauty and fragility of the oceans we explore. To help protect these delicate environments, all food aboard Ilios is plant based and sourced locally whenever possible. With creativity and flair, Sanne surprises our guests with meals inspired by the flavours of the regions we sail through.
Captain Heros
Heros grew up in the streets of Greece, never imagining he would one day travel around the world. At sea, he is in his element, head up, nose in the wind, loving the wide open horizon. At anchor, he watches the comings and goings with a sharp eye, alert to passing boats, and makes sure that everyone knows he has arrived.
